“Even in darkness, something beautiful lives.” – Sebastian Gorklo
Artist Bio
Sebastian Gorklo is the founder and sole photographer behind Wolfeye Media, based in Denver, Colorado. Born and raised in the area, Sebastian has been working professionally since 2016, developing his skills through hands-on experience and collaboration with fellow photographers. Entirely self-taught, he believes the best education comes from doing—and from an enduring love for the art itself.
Over the past eight years, Sebastian has refined his craft across a wide spectrum of subjects. His work, showcased under Wolfeye Media on social platforms, includes weddings, senior portraits, modeling sessions, and lifestyle shoots such as birth and engagement announcements. His passion for landscape photography has also taken him across the U.S., capturing scenes from the majestic terrain of Colorado and New Mexico to vibrant locations in Louisiana, Tennessee, Florida, and New York.
Sebastian’s dedication to photography has led to features in local exhibitions—including events hosted by Pancakes & Booze and the Coldwell Banker Building—as well as published work in Will Magazine and Voyage Denver.
Beyond the camera, Sebastian is a multi-disciplinary artist. He plays guitar, piano, and drums, and handles lead vocals for the Denver-based band Under Auburn Skies. He’s also a passionate illustrator, an avid student of geography and history, and a lover of cinema. In addition to his creative pursuits, he spent over three years teaching axe-throwing at Axe Whooping in Denver.
Known for his friendly, grounded nature, Sebastian brings authenticity and respect to every interaction—values inspired by the lives of his late brothers, Aaron and Jackson. He believes life is about always learning, always growing, and honoring the people and passions that shape us along the way.
Artist Statement
“I see great importance in light and color, but even greater meaning in shadow and stillness. Life is full of turmoil, and I believe there’s beauty in embracing that. Emotion is at the core of what it means to be human, whether it brings joy or sorrow.
I look at the shape of the world around me and find reasons to photograph it. I explore a wide range of subjects because I believe beauty can exist almost anywhere — even in places we don’t expect. Life holds wonder and despair, and art gives form to both, sometimes all at once.
Art may live in the physical world, but its deeper purpose is to express what emotion looks like. It can become the visible face of what we feel, and sometimes what we can’t say. I love all genres of music, many styles of photography, and a wide range of art. What captures my heart most are the works that explore the full spectrum of emotion — especially those that acknowledge what’s heavy or hard to hold.
No image, and no life, is made of just light, just dark, or a single color; it’s the contrast that makes it real. Even in my most colorful images, I leave space for emptiness. In the quietest frames, a spark of intensity remains. I want my work to reflect life as it is: layered, complex, and honest. Finding inspiration in shadow and sorrow is something I continue to strive for — because even in darkness, something beautiful lives.
My photography career is my greatest accomplishment, and one that is always evolving. I’m proud of what I’ve built, and deeply grateful to have found something that lets me devote myself to it completely.”
